Solidario Kids
Did you know that Espresso Royale donates back to the people that bring us the world's best coffee. Through great organizations we are able to get real help out to these kids and families. Basic things we take for granted are very appreciated. Clean water, a school, building materials, a village bank with just $300, sustainable agricultural practices....all these things make life better in these coffee villages.
$10,000 of coffee donated to Hurricane Katrina victims through the Detroit Food Bank.
Last October there was a need and with our coffee roaster we decided to do something.
Solidario Power project
Next christmas our company is hoping to install a sustainable, renewable power plant in a coffee village in Nicaragua. We are looking for a village that could use the power system for a reading room, power tools, and other uses. The village should be remote and off grid.
The power plant is comprised of two solar panels, a wind turbine and a small diesel generator capable of running off vegetable oil or steam plant capable of using agricultural by product. The unit would be self enclosed in a 4 X 8 foot knocked down kit. The unit will produce 6kw and be able to supply safe 12 volt power for power tools, lights, and a CD player.
We need donations for the $10,000 cost, and any donations of materials such as 9.6 volt power tools, regional music on CD, and person's willing and skilled at assembling and teaching the locals how to use the system.

Nice Thoughts From Our Crew - Our customers are important to us. This is apparent from excerpts from our favorite column in the staff newsletter, "Table Talk," by Dan Zielske, who asked crew, "Who Is Your Favorite Customer?"
Cynthia, Urbana Crew says, "A PhD student in women's studies who is always smiling, always happy and glad to see everyone. She brings great atmosphere to the cafe!
Jazz, Bloomington Crew says, "I'd have to say this guy Dave. He always gets a small coffee. He hangs out at the store. He's a really nice guy and he's always talking."
Violeta, MN-Stadium Village Crew, "I would say my live in, because I met him as a customer."
Susie, Madison crew says, "Eileen, because she's a sweet older woman. She comes in every day. She's not perfect, but she's very genuine and it makes her seem like family."
Jamey, Madison crew says, "I would have to say David. He's a really nice guy. He comes in all the time. We all know what he drinks. We talk music with him and sometimes he brings in music for us to listen to."
Suzie, a Boston College Manager says, "The Metro T guy who comes in every morning and gets a regular coffee. A couple of weeks ago when it snowed he brought me in a snowball!"
Paul of State Street, Ann Arbor crew says, "They're all good customers, but usually the ones who tip well and have a smile on their face."
